What we use this information for
- Smofcon is a gathering of a community, of a group of people with a goal of sharing experience and information. The attendance fee is simply to cover our costs. Membership is about participation. So we want to know who everybody is. The badge allows us to identify who has paid for membership, and the name helps everybody know how to address each other.
- The public name should match your identification, so that our registration team can know we are giving a badge to the right person. The badge name is how you wish to be known to each other. While we prefer badges to use names that people will recognize, we recognize everyone’s right to safety and privacy.
- The “List” checkbox tells us whether we can include your name in (printed or online) membership lists.
Your pronoun(s) are simply to let others know how you wish to be known and addressed. This is optional. - Your email is required so we can confirm your membership transaction and so we can contact you about any necessary issues.
- The phone number and social media handle are simply ways to help us contact you about membership. These are useful but not required.
- Your landmail address is used only so that our registration team can confirm your identification versus the information you’ve given us, again to make sure we give a badge to the right person (for people we don’t recognize.)
- We will not share your memberships personal information with anyone.
